Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy Training through the
American Council of Hypnotist Examiners
Gainesville Today Magazine -
The purpose of the Florida Institute of Hypnotherapy is to train students as certified hypnotherapists and certified clinical hypnotherapists through the American Council of Hypnotists Examiners so as to offer a high quality education in the field of hypnotism, while creating professional, ethical and exceptionally well-trained hypnotherapists.
The Florida Institute of Hypnotherapy is located in the Millhopper area of Gainesville, Florida. Our hypnosis training institute purposely keeps classes small, thus allowing students to receive an abundance of personal attention. Training consists of classroom hours, supervised clinical practice on fellow students and at-home study time. Private meetings with the director are welcomed to ensure high student morale and satisfactory course completion.
The Florida Institute of Hypnotherapy is licensed by the Florida Commission for Independent Education, (License No. 3448) and is approved by the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners (A.C.H.E.) to offer Certification Programs for Hypnotherapy and Clinical Hypnotherapy. We are the first official hypnotherapy school to be licensed in the State of Florida and the first school to be certified by the A.C.H.E. for the State of Florida as well.

Beginning Your Training at the Institute
What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is defined as a natural, yet altered, state of mind marked by a high degree of suggestibility where there is communication with the subconscious mind. In this state we can help ourselves and others to tap into the incredible resources of our innermost being. Through the hypnotic state we can reprogram limiting behaviors, change old out-dated belief systems and resolve negative emotions. With access to the subconscious mind we can empower ourselves and those we work with to live much more fulfilling and successful lives. With this model of inner transformation we embark upon a true path of self-discovery and personal empowerment. Through the proper use of this amplified state of mind we are enabled to solve problems, resolve inner conflicts and reach goals otherwise unattainable.
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is the art and practice of utilizing transformational techniques and principles in conjunction with hypnosis. In this model, the hypnotherapist serves as a "facilitator" who assists his or her clients towards moving into greater experiences of personal wholeness and well-being. A hypnotherapist utilizes his or her training and personal experience in the service of helping other people to experience greater states of health, happiness, prosperity and love.
Modern professional hypnosis has come a long way since the days of the early Mesmerists. Increasingly, hypnosis is becoming mainstream and widely accepted as a method for helping people to overcome addiction, relieve pain, reduce stress and to reach goals that were previously out of reach. While hypnotherapy is not intended to replace psychiatric or medical treatment, it has proven itself to be a powerful complimentary therapy when utilized by a highly trained professional.
Why train at the Florida Institute of Hypnotherapy?
Matthew Brownstein's hypnotherapy training program in professional clinical hypnotherapy at the Florida Institute of Hypnotherapy is considered an "advanced level course." This is not a weekend workshop, but rather is a hypnotism school licensed through the Florida Commission for Independent Education (License No. 3448) that offers training that meets and exceeds the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners standards for creating ethical and professional hypnotherapists.
Our hypnotism training programs focus on in-depth instruction of the most modern and powerful hypnotherapy methods available. Take the time to review our Hypnotherapy Programs as listed on our website and you will see just how diverse this education really is. Instead of just training you with a few hypnotic inductions and letting you read from a script, you will learn every component necessary for the mastery of this wonderful career. Not only are our graduates trained to very high levels of competence in the practice of hypnotism and hypnotherapy, but a very generous portion of the curriculum is spent on learning how to build, run and market a successful professional practice. Immediately after graduation you will be able to begin assisting people to reach their goals and resolve their inner conflicts as one of the most highly trained professionals in the field of hypnotherapy.
Many people are unaware of just what hypnosis is, and perhaps it could be said that even more people are unaware of just what a hypnotherapist is. We have all seen hypnotists on televeision or on stage making hypnosis appear to be a mere parlor trick. Yet the therapeutic uses of hypnosis are quite astounding and the use of hypnosis as part of a hypnotherapy profession can be even more so. The decision to be a hypnotherapist is supported by the U.S. Department of Labor. In The Dictionary of Occupational Titles a hypnotherapist is defined as:
| .079.157.010 - Hypnotherapist
"Hypnotherapist induces hypnotic state in client to increase motivation or alter behavior pattern through hypnosis. Consults with client to determine the nature of problem. Prepares client to enter hypnotic states by explaining how hypnosis works and what client will experience. Tests subjects to determine degrees of physical and emotional suggestibility. Induces hypnotic techniques of hypnosis based on the interpretation of test results and analysis of client's problem. May train client in self-hypnosis conditioning."
The Dictionary of Occupational Titles (D.O.T.) is a reference manual published by the U.S. Department of Labor. |

The "Love Blanket" at Lunch Time
Upon successful completion of the Institute's training and after meeting the requirements of the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners you are officially a certified hypnotherapist and are considered a professional in the field. With your high level of training combined with a vast array of marketing techniques and practice building systems, you will be empowered to be your own boss, make your own living and constantly be in a service oriented field where you spend your days helping others. The benefits of hypnosis are yours to take with you: to use on yourself and to share with others. Such a career is rare, priceless and truly is a blessing...
On becoming an A.C.H.E. Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist through The Florida Institute of Hypnotherapy
A quality education is priceless. If you do your research, you will find that the Institute offers a level of training that is two to three times more comprehensive than most others. This is not a weekend workshop or an accelerated course in the basics of hypnosis. Our 410 classroom hours provide you with an extremely solid foundation for a successful career as a professional hypnotherapist. By completing the first three Programs of the Institute's training and successfully passing the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners exam, you earn the professional title of "Hypnotherapist" and by completing the next two Programs you qualify for becoming a "Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist." Taking our final Program, an elective topic of the Institute, trains you in detail in Past-Life Regression Therapy and the more transpersonal nature of what a hypnotherapy practice can be.
This is a level of training that you can be proud of. You will honestly be able to say that your training is amongst the highest in the country. As there is currently no state or federal system of licensing for hypnotherapists it is quite easy for someone to take an at home correspondence course and claim to be a hypnotherapist. It is the aim of the A.C.H.E. and the Florida Institute of Hypnotherapy to maintain the highest standards for the practice of professional hypnotism. With this aim in mind, you will be assured of an exceptional quality hypnosis and hypnotherapy training that you can be proud of.
